Leading this transformative movement, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has launched the Advanced Manufacturing and Production Center (AMPC) to drive the nation’s leap into cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. This center is designed as a comprehensive national platform that promotes the widespread adoption and integration of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies throughout Saudi Arabia’s industrial sector.
The Ministry’s strategic push is reinforced through close collaboration with several key government bodies. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology plays a critical role by driving the digital transformation necessary for industrial automation and smart manufacturing. Additionally, partnerships with the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), the Research, Development, and Innovation Authority (RDIA), and other national stakeholders ensure alignment and synergy in advancing the AMPC’s mission.
AMPC spearheads several innovative programs that form the backbone of Saudi Arabia’s 4IR ambitions, including:
- The Future Factories Program
- The Capability Centers Network
- The Industrial Lighthouse Program
- The Operational Excellence Program
- The Additive Manufacturing Program
Driving Saudi Arabia’s Advanced Manufacturing Revolution
Launched in 2022, the Future Factories Program (FFP) aims to revolutionize 4,000 factories across the Kingdom by transitioning them from traditional, labor-intensive operations to automated, technology-enhanced production lines. This program emphasizes the integration of AI, robotics, and advanced automation to maximize manufacturing output while minimizing manual labor dependence. Financial incentives and subsidies help factories absorb automation costs, smoothing the path for a successful transformation.
Supported by Saudi Vision 2030, the Future Factories Program has consistently expanded its reach and impact year after year. It establishes Saudi Arabia as a dynamic center for cutting-edge smart manufacturing and innovative industrial technologies.
Several success stories highlight the program’s effectiveness. City Cement Company, for example, has embraced 4IR technologies through FFP, revolutionizing its data management and operational workflows. Similarly, Maram Feed Mill Factory, a leading fish feed producer in the Middle East, utilized the program to automate its packaging processes. This initiative reduced its reliance on unskilled labor by 96%, while simultaneously increasing profit margins by 25%.
To complement these efforts, the Ministry has introduced the Industrial Lighthouse Program—a flagship initiative designed to showcase Saudi Arabia’s manufacturing excellence on the global stage. This program empowers selected factories to implement 4IR technologies extensively and aims to have 10 Saudi factories recognized internationally by 2030 within the prestigious World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network. This network comprises manufacturing pioneers that leverage advanced technologies across their value chains to drive innovation, resilience, and sustainability.
During the official inauguration of the AMPC, the Ministry proudly announced that 10 leading Saudi industrial companies have committed to detailed transformation roadmaps that align with the standards and benchmarks of the Global Lighthouse Network.
Collaborative Partnerships to Accelerate Progress
In a landmark move to further enhance industrial transformation, the Ministry signed a trilateral agreement with Deutsche Messe and Riyadh Exhibitions Company to organize Industrial Transformation Saudi Arabia (ITSA). This event is part of the globally renowned Hannover Messe Industrial Transformation Network and will bring together government officials, industry leaders, and innovators from around the world to witness Saudi Arabia’s pioneering strides in manufacturing innovation.
Through such initiatives, the Kingdom aims to fast-track the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies within its industrial ecosystem. This momentum offers Saudi manufacturers access to state-of-the-art technologies, driving enhanced productivity, superior product quality, and significant cost efficiencies.
Beyond technology adoption, AMPC’s role extends to boosting the overall productivity and competitiveness of Saudi Arabia’s manufacturing sector.
